Game data stored locally

Serene Chess may create and store game settings, save-game progress, difficulty selections, win/loss statistics, and other gameplay-related information locally on your computer.

Epic Games / Epic Online Services

When Serene Chess is launched through Epic Games, Epic Games and Epic Online Services (EOS) may process platform account identifiers, authentication data, entitlement information, achievement status, and service-related technical information needed to provide Epic platform features. This can include identifiers such as an Epic Account ID or EOS Product User ID as handled by the Epic platform and SDK.

Serene Chess does not receive or store your Epic Games password or payment-card information.

Steam

When Serene Chess is used through Steam, Valve may process Steam account identifiers, entitlement information, achievement status, cloud-related data where applicable, and technical information needed to provide Steam platform features.

Serene Chess does not receive or store your Steam password or payment-card information.

Support communications

If you contact the developer for support, the information you voluntarily provide may be captured, including your email address, the contents of your message, and any diagnostic information or attachments you choose to send.

Website technical data and advertising measurement

Cloudflare, which is used to host, deliver, secure, and provide DNS services for the website, may process limited technical information such as IP addresses, request information, security events, and server or network logs.

The website also uses Google Ads conversion measurement to understand whether advertising leads visitors to serenechess.com and whether those visitors click through to the Epic Games Store. Depending on your privacy choice and Google's consent signals, Google may process advertising or measurement identifiers, page and referral information, Google click identifiers (such as GCLID), device/browser information, and conversion-event information. Serene Chess does not receive your Epic Games password, payment-card information, or purchase details through this website measurement.

A local browser storage entry is used to remember whether you allowed or rejected Google advertising/measurement storage on this device. You can reopen the privacy choices from the website footer and change your selection.

3. How data is used

Data is used only as needed to provide and support Serene Chess and its related services. In particular:

Information may be processed or shared with the following service providers only to the extent necessary to provide their services:

• Epic Games / Epic Online Services — authentication, entitlements, achievements, and related Epic platform functionality.

• Cloudflare — website hosting, delivery, DNS, reliability, and security.

5. How data is retained

Local game data

Local save files and settings remain on your device until you delete them, overwrite them, remove the relevant save data, or uninstall the game. If a platform-provided cloud feature is enabled, supported data may also remain in that platform's cloud service according to the platform provider's retention rules.

Developer-operated servers

Serene Chess does not currently operate a developer-owned server database for storing player profiles, gameplay history, Epic account identifiers, or Steam account identifiers.

Support communications

Support communications may be retained for as long as necessary to resolve the request and for up to 12 months after the last support interaction for reasonable support record-keeping, unless a longer period is required by law.

Platform and website provider data

Data processed by Epic Games, Valve, Cloudflare, or Google is retained according to each provider's own privacy policy, service terms, security requirements, and retention practices. The developer does not control those providers' independent retention periods.

Your website privacy choice is stored locally in your browser until you clear site data or change the choice using the privacy controls on serenechess.com.

6. Data deletion and choices

You can remove locally stored Serene Chess data by deleting the game's save files or uninstalling the game, subject to any platform cloud synchronization that may restore supported data.

For the website, you can allow or reject Google advertising/measurement storage using the privacy banner. You can reopen the privacy choices at any time from the website footer. Clearing serenechess.com site data in your browser will also remove the saved consent preference.
