Serene Chess has one clear objective: capture the opposing king before your own king is taken. There is no traditional checkmate and no time pressure. Choose a difficulty, save your match whenever you need to, and return later.

Easy, Medium, and Hard provide progressively deeper move calculation and a distinct level of challenge.
Within the selected difficulty, a light adaptive layer can make the AI slightly less likely to choose its strongest move after repeated player losses. Repeated wins do not cause the AI to be artificially weakened.
Easy searches 3 levels deep, Medium 5, and Hard 7.
Track your wins and losses individually for each difficulty level.
Leave a match when you need to and continue it later.
Once a match has started, changing difficulty requires starting a new game.
Defeated pieces can be pushed, knocked over, and react physically when struck.

Serene Chess is a focused single-player experience for Windows PC, built around king capture, multiple AI difficulty levels, subtle adaptive balancing, physics-based captures, achievements, and a relaxed pace.
Serene Chess is continuing to evolve. These additions are actively being worked on and will arrive as they are tested, refined, and ready.
Our current focus is on adding more strategic choice, more ways to personalize the board, and more variety in the atmosphere — while keeping the calm, focused experience at the heart of Serene Chess.
Work in progressWe are working on a pawn promotion mechanic that will add a new strategic decision when a pawn reaches the far side of the board.
New visual styles for the chessboard and pieces are in development, giving players more ways to customize the look and feel of each match.
We are working on an option that will let players choose whether to play as White or Black before starting a match.
Additional calm background tracks are being added to expand the soundtrack and bring more variety to longer, relaxed play sessions.
Roadmap items are in active development and may change as features are tested and polished. Release timing will be announced when each update is ready.
